Diode Laser Hair Removal at SkinStation SM Marikina

Guys, this is not a paid or sponsored ad. I used my own money to pay for these procedures.

For years, I’ve been hoping that a laser hair removal clinic would open near my place. I’ve tried a couple underarm hair removal sessions before, but because it  would take me at least an hour to get to the clinic, I wasn’t able to finish my sessions.

Now, the heavens have heard my prayer. SkinStation opened in SM Marikina this November and I was finally able to find a slot in my schedule where I can visit the place.

Upon seeing SkinStation, I was glad to see that the place looked clean and posh. The entrance and reception area was well-lit and the items they were selling were organized. The receptionist warmly greeted me and  patiently answered all of my questions.

I decided to get three packages – underarm, lower leg, and brazilian. I know the thought of laser and the feeling of snapping rubber bands to the skin seems terrifying. Even the receptionist was surprised that it was my first time to go there and I decided then and there to avail three packages and even included the brazilian. She said she would be glad to know if the brazilian was painful or not. Only a few customers have tried the bikini laser from the sound of it.

I purchased the Elite Card which costs P1,000.00 and was valid for 3 (three) years. This entitles holders to 10% discount and avail of discounted promos even if they’re not on-going. So here are the packages that I got:

  • Diode Underarm 8 sessions for P5,000 (Regular Price is P1,500 per session)
  • Lower Legs 6 sessions at P P16,000 (Regular Price is P4,500 per session)
  • Brazilian 8 sessions for P12,000 (Regular price is P3,500 per session)

Including the Elite Card, I paid P34,000.00. Right now their branch only accepts cash or straight payments. But they did mention that they’re working on a 3-month payment system for credit cards.

My attendant started by shaving all my hair in the intented areas. This took about an hour because it had to be a clean and close shave. It’s also recommended that they do the shaving so they would know which areas they should work more laser on.

Disclaimer: I’m used to using an epilator on myself (which is painful), as well as have been getting a Brazilian Wax for years (which can hurt like hell). Please don’t stick to my experience and think that all would be well and good. Everyone has different skin types and conditions, and pain thresholds. If you’re not sure of what you’re getting into, I recommend to try getting a wax in the areas first just to gain experience and an idea of hair removal. Or try just one session.

I decided that we start on my underarm so I can gauge the pain of the laser. She applied a thick layer of cool gel to my underarms and started the procedure at the lowest level and upped the level when I feel that I can bear the laser. It went by quickly and with minimal pain. But take note that I have been using an epilator for years. This feels like plucking the skin using several tools at the same time so I was a bit used to removing underarm hair quickly and painfully. Yes, painfully, because using an epilator also hurts.

Next up was my lower leg, because I also used an epilator on my legs, which also hurt, we upped the intensity of the Diode quickly so we can finish faster and more efficiently.

The last part was painful, but bearable. I frequently get Brazilian Wax and because of this I already had an idea of the pain and suffering (hahaha!) that one endures for beauty (and laser on this area). This was the part I literally felt tiis ganda. We started at the lowest intensity so I can gauge and get used to the feeling. After a few increases on the intensity, I was starting to squirm from small, but quick shots of pain, but I knew that if I didn’t bear it and stuck to the lowest intensity, it would take me several packages, yes I said packages and not sessions, before I can see a result from the procedure.

We finally finished after two and a half hours. All in all, it was good. I was happy with the procedure and I’m glad I finally went ahead and started with everything despite the initial investment (lol). I’m looking forward to my next session and finally becoming hair-free sometime next year!

Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures, but I’ll try to take some on my next session in January.

Tokyo Haul Part 2

I’m back with the second installment of the Tokyo haul. This time I’m going to talk about the ones on the top right of the photo. I already did initial reviews on Topshop products and Shisedo Perfect Foundation Brush in my previous post.

There are only three products which are Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water, Shiseido Eyelash Curler, and Shiseido Mini Eyelash Curler. I already gave away the other eyelash curlers as gifts when I took this photo.

Shiseido Eyelash Curler – I purchased the Shiseido Eyelash Curler as gifts and one to try myself. I already have a Shu Uemura eyelash curler, but being the curious cat that I am, I tried it on myself. Lo and behold, it works better than my Shu Uemura eyelash curler. The Shiseido one suits my eye shape better and curls almost all my lashes in one go. I actually bought the mini eyelash curler because I thought the shorter eyelashes were hopeless to curl, but Shiseido does a great job at curling even the ones in my inner corner and outer corner of my eye. I really love this and I’m glad I tried it. Definitely hg material.

Shiseido Mini Eyelash Curler – As I said, I got this because my Shu Uemura eyelash curler and previous Revlon one couldn’t curl my inner and outer eyelashes. The latter making me almost give up curling my eyelashes altogether because it always pinched my eyelid and the curl never stayed for more than 30 seconds. I tried this mini eyelash curler before even trying the normal Shiseido one and I really liked the effect. Even though the regular Shiseido does a good job, I’m still keeping this in case I need it on days when my shorter eyelashes are stubborn.

Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water – If you’ve been browsing beauty blogs, you’ll notice that this has earned some cult status in the beauty community. I bought three because I need a good makeup remover. Honestly, I wasn’t all that impressed when I first used this because it didn’t remove my mascara and eyeliner. But when I woke up I noticed that I had smoother and softer skin. I didn’t change my entire skincare routine except I added this to remove makeup. I still used Clean and Clear Morning Burst facial wash (the orange variant) both day and night and moisturized my skin with SK II Facial Treatment Essence. I’ve used this for a few nights and I always end up with nice skin in the morning so great buy (cough, hoard..).

Parting words would be that I’m happy with these purchases and I should’ve bought SK II products because they’re a little less pricey there. Aaack. Oh well.

Thanks for dropping by. 🙂

First Empties Post

Hello gorgeous!

I’ve amassed quite a number of makeup and skin/hair/body products when I fell in love with makeup again 2 years ago. But after a while the number of products just makes me feel so overwhelmed. Therefore, I’ve finally decided to do my first Empties post! I’m also looking forward to my first Project Pan post someday! But then again, one day at a time.

I’ve been using makeup daily ever since I got hooked two years ago, but so far I’ve only hit pan on a few. It’s a real challenge, but I’m up for it! Skin and hair products are easier to finish as they’re used daily.

Anyway onto the Empties.

Block and White Ultima with Glutathione and Spf 20- It’s a whitening lotion from a brand that’s quite well-known for yes, skin whitening products. I’ve had this a while back, but wasn’t religious in slathering lotion. It’s a bit thick and I tend to use a lot of product only in my arms. I quickly finished this. As for the lightening properties, I can’t really attest to that because my skin does get lighter when I don’t get much sun exposure. I might purchase this again.

Nivea Extra Whitening Inner Cell Repair – This is also a whitening product as clearly stated in its description. I like that it’s very light and not at all oily and can be worn in daytime. I have another one of this I have to finish plus several other Nivea lotions. I do like Nivea products. It’s a product I tend to purchase abroad when I travel and forget to bring lotion which is why I have lots from this brand.

Nivea UV Whitening – Yet another whitening lotion I purchased during one of my travels which was intended as sunscreen and was eventually forgotten. It’s not thick and sticky like most Nivea lotions I’ve tried, but it doesn’t totally moisturize skin as well. I’m not sure if this is available locally. I won’t repurchase.

Kerastase Noctogenist Overnight Softening Treatment Renewing Effect for Thick, Dull, Tired-looking Hair – This comes in cream form with a scent I can’t recognize, but also don’t like. I didn’t notice any difference in my hair besides making it difficult to comb/brush after applying this. It also makes my hair feel crunchy and breakable. I’m not impressed and I won’t repurchase.

Kerastase Noctogenist Overnight Revitalising Treatment, Renewing Effect for Fine, Dull, Tired-Looking Hair – another Kerastase treatment from the Noctogenist line. This one comes in spray form and is again supposed to nourish and protect hair, but I still notice hairfall and my hairstrands become a bit brittle after use. For hairfall, I now rely on Snoe Hair Heroes Intense Argan Oil and Organix Moroccan Argan Oil, both of which strengthen my hair strands. I can tolerate perfume in cosmetics such as the Guerlain and Chanel rose scents, but this one I can’t stand. I try not to inhale when applying this as the heavy, musky scent gives me a headache. Definitely will not repurchase.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula for Stretchmarks- This has Vitamin E, Collagen, Elastin, and Shea Butter – This has lots of oils so it does tend to be thick. It also has a weird scent that I sometimes can’t stand. I have the Human Heart Nature 100% Sunflower Oil and after that I have another Vitamin E Oil and Glowing Contessa Dry Olive Oil Mist to finish. After those, I might purchase Palmer’s again. We’ll see.

L’oreal Elseve Anti-Breakage Daily Instant Treatment Non Rinse Essence for Dry, Damaged or Brittle Hair – I don’t think they carry this in local stores anymore. Probably because I didn’t notice actual anti-breakage in my hair. I used this at night because it makes my hair look and feel crunchy. Not a good sight. I’m not going to purchase this again.

Estee Lauder Pleasures – A gift from boyf as he likes this scent. It’s a nice, but a wee but heavy (on the nose) floral scent that lingers until hours later. However, I prefer Lanvin Eclat D Arpege which was gifted to me by boyf’s sister. Boyf likes that scent too.

That’s it for my first empties post! 🙂

Erase Tretinoin UK Derm Erase – Part 2

The Erase UK has been making the areas I applied it itchy.

You can read about Erase Tretinoin UK Derm Erase – Part 1 here.

I’m not a person to scratch allergies or insect bites, but this is beyond that. Skin on areas where I applied it have first started to dry then eventually went on too peel. Sometimes with small, red, circular marks. I don’t know what those are. Probably the depigmenting. I hope so.

I also mentioned in my Attempts at Healthy – Day 12 post that I wore a JThomas Slimming Gel while I exercised. And while applying the gel on my thighs, I felt burning sensations on areas where I regularly place Erase Tretinoin. I observed it for a bit then realized it will get even more painful if I left it so I removed with a wet tissue. The burning sensation was still there after I wore the plastic wrap so I just carefully slid off those areas. It didn’t hurt during my 20-minute exercise thought. Plus, I showered after so that was that.

I’m a bit bothered by the small, red dots. I hope my skin doesn’t get burned or something by the Erase Tretinoin. Skin’s still dry and peeling at the moment.

I’ve been using the Erase Tretinoin UK Derm Erase for one week. For one week nothing has happened and I already finished my bottle, until today!

I just didn’t understand why nothing was happening when I’ve been using it religiously for a week until I ran out. I read a couple reviews that said your skin is supposed to peel after a few applications. But nothing.

Lo and behold today. I was at the mall when I bought my second bottle of Erase Tretinoin because I wanted to use it more. I bought the bigger one because I realized I apply a generous amount instead of a light application and thought I needed to use even more. So going back, I was at the mall when I felt  an itch. It was a super itch! An itch I had to scratch, but didn’t. It felt a bit gross actually because it was an itch where you just want to gnaw your nails on your skin. It’s that insane!

So fast forward tonight, I was going to apply the Erase on my stretch marks then bam! I saw a dry patch on my skin. It was starting to get dry and I’m sure by the looks of it that it’s going to peel anytime soon. I couldn’t believe it because I stopped using Erase for 2 days since I already ran out.

So far, my stretch marks are still in the “depigmenting” process. Or I would like to believe. So I just have to wait for the results! Will update as soon as I finish my second bottle or when my stretch marks disappear (or not).

I read that it’s painful to use on the face so I’m not exactly going to put it anywhere near my face.

How much is the Erase Tretinoin UK Derm Erase?

The small bottle (pictured) costs Php 78.00 while the bigger bottle costs Php 165.00. It’s available at Watsons and Robinsons Supermarkets. *If you know where else this can be purchased, feel free to leave a comment so I can add more locations.

I now have a Erase Tretinoin UK Derm Erase – Part 2 post!
