Lately, I’ve been trying out different eye makeup because I wanted to test the brushes and sponges I found in Landmark Department Store. I haven’t used everything just yet, but this yellow teardrop sponge is something I really enjoy using to apply foundation because it gives a nice, even finish.

I also brought out this Chanel Raffinement quad that I’ve been ignoring, opting to use the 88-eyeshadow palette from Props and Tools Cosmetics because the latter is more pigmented.

That’s it for now.

Eotd – Taupe and Gold

20130426-114423.jpg

Hello gorgeous!

As we’re in the middle of summer, I thought why not post a look dedicated to summer? So here I am with my sunkissed inspired face of the day.

20130426-113838.jpg
Last week I picked up a few goodies from Guerlain. I know I’m on a low-buy makeup, but they’re just too irresistible! There’s a chance I won’t be spending time at the beach so I, at the very least, indulged myself in a beach-worthy look (and items) with a matching kaftan to boot!

20130426-113955.jpg
On the eyes, I used a mixture of taupe, gold, silver, and black. Yes, black, as smokey eyes remind me of steamy nights partying on the sands. Steamy, hot, sweaty, smudgy makeup looks ha!;)

20130426-114016.jpg
On my cheeks I used a light pink with Nars Gaiety and my favorite part of this look, a bronzer using Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder in Sun Blondes. I dusted the bronzer heavily on my cheeks and kept the rest of my face radiant. I finished the look with a nude lipstick, Tom Ford Blush Nude, and topped with a pink nude, Mac Angel.

Have a fun, steamy summer ahead!:)

Smokey Eyes 2 with Wet n Wild Silent Treatment

Hello gorgeous!

I mentioned in my previous post that I loved the smokey eyes created using the Wet n Wild Silent Treatment so I here I am back at it again.

20130424-092440.jpg
I never thought I’d like smokey eyes as I’m more inclined to choose bright-eyed with my soft shimmer in the inner corners of my eyes. Alas, smokey eyes took my breath away and I’m now more determined than ever to do more of these looks. Anyway, I used an eye primer this time which is the Elf Eye Primer and Line Sealer which helped keep the makeup in place. I did notice that this palette does tend to stay on my eyes with minimal to zero fallout which is why I appreciate it even more every passing day. Also, thanks to an eyeshadow smudge brush I recently purchased in Etude House, blending has become easier.

I do hope to experiment more eye makeup looks in the coming days. Wish there was more time to do makeup in the morning though! Oh well, will work for makeup will be my motto at the moment, I suppose.;)

What eyeshadow singles or palettes would you recommend for smokey eyes?

Smokey Eyes with Wet n Wild Silent Treatment

20130422-172250.jpg

Hello gorgeous!

It’s been a while since I did a Face of the Day and lately I’ve been sticking to my usual neutral makeup.

Yesterday, however, I decided to try smokey eyes using a new eyeshadow palette I picked up from the Pretty Goddess stall in Trinoma which is the Wet n Wild eyeshadow palette in Silent Treatment consisting of a matte nude pink, glittery black, and taupe shade.

I’ve never really been a fan of smokey eyes thinking that it makes my eyes look smaller, but lo and behold, with thick eyelashes it’s become one of my favorite looks – ever.

20130422-171317.jpg

I followed the instructions in the palette and used the taupe color on the eyelid, black on the crease, and matte nude pink on the browbone. The taupe and black are intense colors, but the nude pink barely showed up on my skin. I’d like to try this again this time heavily using the pink shade. I used thick false eyelashes, tighlined with eyeliner using Etude House Proof 10 Eyeliner and piled on the blush using three different ones. I used a lavender blush as base which is the Shu Uemura M Soft Mauve 225 blush, layered a slightly shimmery peachy pink blush using Chanel Rose Tourbillon, and finished with Nars Gaiety, a bubblegum pink blush. Instead of my usual red lips, I wore a nude lip lipstick as base using Tom Ford Blush Nude lipstick and topped it off with a pink lipstick in the middle of the lips using Maybelline Soft Azallea lipstick.

I can’t wait to try this look again.:)

Do you guys like smokey eyes?:)

Wearing Jordana Oil-Free Liquid Foundation under direct sunlight

20130315-191641.jpg
Hello Gorgeous!

I noticed that one of the ladies at work usually had a dewy face even by the end of the day. I asked her what foundation she used and she said it’s Jordana Oil-Free Foundation as it’s an affordable/cheap foundation that keeps oilies at bay. As she also had oily skin, I couldn’t keep my curious self from trying it. Anyway, I purchased it from the Dollar Store and was shocked that it costs only P99! Whoa!

Tried it on myself and used sunblock as base to have a barrier between the foundation and my skin because I was a bit skeptical about it giving me zits.

Here are some swatches of Jordana Oil-Free Liquid Foundation in Tawny (left) vs. Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation in Tawny (yes! same shade name!)

Estee Lauder on the right with more yellow undertones

20130316-184247.jpg

Here’s the lowdown:
Pros:
– Super affordable at P99!
– Matte finish
– Medium to heavy coverage

Cons:
– It doesn’t keep my face matte until the end of the day probably due to my oily Vmv Armada sunblock
– Dries immediately so quick blending is a must.
– It melts! When I sweat or when it gets wet. Not a pretty look at all!
– Limited shades
– No testers. Luckily, lady from the office and myself are the same shade
– Difficult to find Jordana products
– Durable bottle. I clumsily dropped this and it bounced on the floor. But it didn’t break or even have the slightest scratch!
– Limited reviews online. So I’m a bit freaked out that it might be made of harmful chemicals and/or might break out my skin (ingredients are listed at the back of the bottle)

I’m still skeptical about this product. I might give this a few more tries then I might give it away. It’s still a wonderful drugstore find for the price though! ๐Ÿ˜‰
